ben, you need to set up a dns server which is quite easy.. i had the same problem but if ur router is like 50 mgs i wouldnt suggest useing it for live…you loose connection alot

  • jordanash84 says:

It should be fine, I dont see why it should block you because It should work first time.

I can’t get the fucking DNS to work, i’m tryng to connect to Xbox live using a Netgear Router but it says the DNS server can’t be reached, any help?

The same problem occured for me, the problem can be if you install any software from your internet provider, it blocks any router service out going. But the only thing to do would to be reboot your pc, so it wipes the isp spftware, then try again. I know its tedious but it is the only way.

    Hope this answers your question.

I finally figured it out. It was because I had Vista with my laptop and didn’t know 9.0 optimized wouldn’t handle it..

  • jordanash84 says:

sorry, it may differ due to this one is from the uk but i dont see why it should

  • bliss1083 says:

I can’t get online still, I have my netgear on there but when it goes from netgear to internet it has a red x on it. Took it to best buy and they could get online but can’t get online at home…

  • jordanash84 says:

the password as of when u get it is password, it only changes if you add one yourself on the left hand side of the router page.

  • Kir55555 says:

The username is usually admin and the password is probably password. High-tech right? But My netgear doesn’t even support WEP so no Wi-Fi for me.(which, ironcilly, is the reason I bought it.)
